Cheshire College – South & West learner wins prestigious High Sheriff’s ‘Apprentice of the Year’ award

Cheshire College – South & West learner, Aiden Melbourne, has been rewarded for his conscientious attitude and accomplishments at the High Sheriff’s Award for Enterprise ceremony, hosted at Chester Business School.

Aiden, a final year AAT apprentice at leading accountancy practice, Shaw Austin Ltd, was named ‘Apprentice of the Year 2021/22’ at the April awards ceremony.

Guest speaker for the ceremony and Chancellor of the University of Chester, Dr Gyles Brandreth, commented on the quality of this year’s nominees and the high standard they presented.

Aiden was nominated for the award by his current employer, Shaw Austin Ltd. It was said of Aiden in his nomination: “He has become a confident and capable Apprentice who has become a first port of call for some clients with queries. Clients are recognising Aiden as a trusted advisor which shows how much he has achieved personally in a relatively short space of time.”

Aiden has said of winning his award: “It is with great pleasure to have won the High Sheriffs Apprentice of the year award. I feel that it can be seen by others that my hard work and commitment is paying off. It has made me feel really happy that the judges of this award are recognising this. This has given me great motivation to strive further in my career and I look forward to what the future brings.”

Michael Robinson, Portfolio Manager at Shaw Austin Ltd, commented: “The support Aiden gives to clients and other team members is of the highest standard. It was a joy to be with him when the award was announced.”
