Scottish Power Pre-Apprenticeship Programme

Scottish Power
Pre-Apprenticeship Programme

The Scottish Power pre-apprenticeship programme begins every September at Cheshire College’s Ellesmere Port Campus. This electrical engineering course will provide you with the skills and knowledge required to join Scottish Power as an apprentice on their apprenticeship programme. If you are highly motivated and have a willingness to learn with a positive attitude, this course could be ideal for you.

This programme is a great opportunity to gain an insight into working at Scottish Power and the field of electrical engineering, to learn new skills and achieve a Level 2 qualification whilst getting an insight into its practical application at a large employer. A small number of students progress to a full apprenticeship with Scottish Power. Although the programme is not a guarantee for this, it could lead to other electrical engineering apprenticeships or employment and it is great experience that can give you a boost in a competitive job market.

You would attend Ellesmere Port Campus for up to 3 days a week (2 days if you have already achieved a grade 4/C in both GCSE Maths and English). During the time when you are not attending College it would be a great opportunity to gain some paid/unpaid work experience in the relevant field. This can help you stand out from the rest of the crowd and make your CV look brilliant, highlighting key skills and attributes you have gained during your work experience.

During this programme you will be required to attend the official Scottish Power Training Centre in Hoylake, Wirral. This would be for two full weeks during the academic year and specific training to the roles available at Scottish Power will be experienced.

During the pre-apprenticeship programme, there will be a £333 expenses payment for each student every month.

To apply for this role, we require a CV by the end of May and this needs to be tailored to electrical engineering and why you are interested in working for Scottish Power. After submitting your application, you will be contacted to confirm if you have been successful in progressing to the next stage. The next stage will involve a series of assessment days. Only a small number of students are selected each year to take part.

You will gain a Level 2 Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technologies.
