Cheshire College – South & West Hospitality and Catering student, Amanda Salters, has been awarded the ‘Young Chef of the Year’ award at the 2023 Cheshire Life Food and Drink Awards.
The black-tie ceremony, Cheshire Life’s first since 2019, was held at Carden Park Hotel where trophies were handed out across 11 categories. Guests included Lord-Lieutenant of Cheshire Lady Alexis Redmond and Sir Phil Redmond, rock legend Noddy Holder and author and Cheshire Life columnist Suzan Holder, and actress Cath Tyldesley.
Amanda, and the 200+ guests, enjoyed a superb three-course dinner created especially for the event by the Carden Park chefs.
Level 2 Professional Cookery student, Amanda, has achieved great success during her time at Cheshire College as she’s competed in the action-packed Heats for the Nestlé Professional Toque d’Or competition, made it to the final round of Delifresh’s Young Chef of the Year awards and can officially add Cheshire Life’s Young Chef of the Year award to her roster.
Cheshire College offers a range of Hospitality and Catering courses where their experienced chefs help students to acquire industry-standard skills and, as part of their vocational training, students work in the College’s kitchens and AA Rosette standard Academy restaurants.
Andrea Huby, Assistant Director of Hair, Beauty and Hospitality at Cheshire College, said: “We are so proud of Amanda and her amazing achievements so far. Her success is testament not only to her talent and determination as a Chef, but also to the knowledge, training and support which she has received from our Hospitality and Catering department.”
