Cheshire College – South & West was thrilled to celebrate the academic success of its A Level, T Level and BTEC students today, in what has become the latest in a long line of record-breaking Results Days for Cheshire’s largest further education provider.
Over 1,000 students received their hard-earned results across the College’s Crewe, Ellesmere Port and Chester Campuses.
Amongst those celebrating were more than 330 A Level students, and 13 A Level subject areas celebrated an astonishing 100% pass rate, improving on the College’s record-breaking results from 2023.
A Level student Hollie, who achieved A, A, Distinction Star in English Literature, French and Music will be progressing to the University of Oxford this September. When asked how she felt, she said: “I found out this morning to UCAS that I’d secured my place, and I’m really happy and shocked! I wouldn’t be here without Cheshire College and its Futures Programme; I wouldn’t have applied to university, so it’s made all the difference studying here.”
Students, their families and friends were invited to their Campus of study so that they could share their good news with each other and celebrate their time at College. Amongst them was A Level student Jack who achieved A, A, B in English Literature, English Language and History respectively: “I’m so happy with my results and I can’t wait to start studying English Language and Linguistics at the University of Central Lancashire.”
Around 720 BTEC and T Level students also celebrated impressive levels of success, with students receiving results across a broad range of sector subject areas including Engineering, Science, Health and Digitial. BTEC students secured an impressive 97.2% pass rate, with at least 47% achieving the top Distinction grades in their qualification.
Equivalent to 3 A Levels, T Levels can open doors to multiple opportunities for students. These can include university placements, higher apprenticeships, or progression into employment. T Level student Matthew who achieved a Distinction said he would be studying Astrophysics and Computer Science at the University of Keele: “I’m pretty amazed and proud of myself. I’ve been able to study A Level Mathematics alongside my T Level course and that’s helped me to get onto my university degree for this September.”
There was also an impressive number of Distinction grades for the College’s BTEC students; amongst them was Jay, a Level 3 Performing Arts students who achieved triple Distinction and will be starting MetFilm School in Leeds in September. Jay commented: “I’ve got to thank the people around me
and really give credit to those who’ve supported me on my journey; I’m hoping to go into screen acting in the future and I’m looking forward to this new chapter.”
Principal and CEO Jasbir Dhesi OBE commented on the latest display of academic excellence from the College: “I think I can safely speak for College lecturers, support staff, and the students’ families and friends when I say that we are enormously proud of everyone’s achievements today.
Our main focus as a College always has been – and always will be – the personal and professional success of our students. Today’s outstanding results reflect not only the quality of our teaching staff, but the tenacity, determination, and tireless commitment of the students themselves.
We can’t wait to see where they all go from here, and we encourage everyone to keep in touch so that we can champion our alumni far into the future.”
