We have various hours available as Learning Support Assistants (LSA) at our College campus in Crewe. We provide support to learners across a variety of interesting subjects we offer at College such as Art, Construction, Business, Protective Services, Sport, Catering, Hair & Beauty, Science, Healthcare, Travel & Tourism to name a few. We support learners either on a 1:1 basis or a small group of learners.
Have you helped / coached / supported a person or people with special educational needs (SEN) and know ways to support them?
- Autism
- ADHD
- Dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs
- Mobility difficulties/medical conditions
- Hearing Impairment/Visual Impairment
- Speech, Language or Communication needs etc
- Moderate Learning Difficulties
This could be through;
- Friends / family members
- Care roles
- Working in education, childcare or residential settings
- Youth / community groups
- Teacher training practice
Key Responsibilities:
Support can include;
– Note-taking, demonstrating;
– Explaining in steps how to do a task set by the teacher;
– Joining college trips to support learners;
– Meeting and greeting a learner to help them into College and to their lessons;
– Using support strategies to keep a learner / learners focused on their learning; and
– Creating or making adaptions to materials to help the learner access their learning / environment.
Key Person Specification Requirements:
- Level 2 qualification (or equivalent);
- GCSE Grade C (4/5) in Maths and English (or equivalent);
- Good working knowledge and understanding of a wide range of additional needs and strategies to support them;
- Excellent organisational and digital literacy skills; and
- Enhanced DBS check.
