Cheshire College – South & West is proud to celebrate the success of Harry Grant, a Level 4 Engineering Manufacturing Technician apprentice, who has been named the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) Most Improved Apprentice of the Year for Merseyside and the North Wales Area.
The award recognises Harry’s technical skills, exceptional commitment to professional development, and leadership within the engineering community.
As an apprentice at Bentley Motors, Harry has demonstrated remarkable growth and perseverance throughout his apprenticeship, earning recognition for his contributions.
The IMechE Most Improved Apprentice of the Year Award honours individuals who excel in technical proficiency and contribute positively to their workplace and the wider community. It acknowledges apprentices who display leadership, a commitment to professional growth, and a passion for innovation in engineering.

Harry’s Apprenticeship Assessor, Leslie Sinclair, shared his praise: “Harry has done tremendously well in winning the overall award, it is a superb achievement.”
“It was a pleasure guiding Harry through his apprenticeship program. It has given me real satisfaction seeing him gain the recognition he thoroughly deserves.”
In addition to his apprenticeship success, Harry has achieved a distinction in his Higher National Certificate (HNC) and is now preparing for his upcoming End Point Assessment (EPA) results.
Reflecting on his journey, Harry shared, “I want to thank my tutors John Fifer and Dan Evans for all their support during my HNC and Leslie Sinclair for his support as my assessor.”
“It’s nice to see the hard work I put in to complete the apprenticeship being recognised.”
With over 800 apprentices enrolled in various fields including engineering, business, health and social care, and construction, the College plays a vital role in preparing the next generation of professionals.
