Cheshire College named Educate North Awards finalist

Cheshire College – South & West has been chosen as a finalist within Educate North’s Community Engagement Award (HE/FE) Category.  

The Educate North Awards celebrate and recognise excellence in the education sector in the North. The awards attract over 300 education professionals from Further and Higher Education institutions offering a diverse range of courses in sectors such as IT, Digital, Engineering and Construction.  

The Community Engagement Award recognises the Higher and/or Further Education institutions that are leading the way in playing an integral role in the development of their individual’s by understanding the importance of community engagement and trends in society.  

Cheshire College has been running Primary and Secondary College for over 25 years, with many generations now having experienced the impact of such a unique event. Originally set up to support the career aspirations and inspire local young people to explore all their options, the programme is now being delivered to over 50 local schools, helping to raise aspirations whilst assisting those who are transitioning into Further Education.  

The programme has benefitted the local area in numerous ways, in particular, it has enhanced the learning opportunities for young people and the wider community. More recently, providing an opportunity to inform and raise awareness of the introduction of T Levels; brand-new technical qualifications. 

The College has also recently been named the lead organisation for Cheshire and Warrington, as part of the £120m Institute of Technology (IoT) competition and investment into world-class inspirational facilities and real work environments. 

Principal and CEO of Cheshire College, Dhesi, says: “I’m incredibly proud of the Cheshire College team and our learners who have developed strong ties with the community and the businesses and opportunities that sit within it. We’ll always continue to push forward and develop new and innovative ways we can build a great future alongside our community so receiving recognition like this is really special.”

Colleges, Schools and local organisations working together to inspire and educate young people about the options available to them is so important. 

“Primary and Secondary College has such a long standing, valued history, giving young people in the area access to a broad range of experiences and providing them with the opportunity to explore future career pathways and the outstanding opportunities available within Cheshire and Warrington. It’s great to see that the College, and our partners who are involved in Primary and Secondary College, have been recognised for all the wonderful work they do in this area.” 

The winners will be announced at the long-awaited awards on Thursday 7th April 2022 in Manchester.
