The Course

Master vehicle maintenance!

Take control of your car’s care with confidence. Invest in our 6-week course, which is tailored for adults who want to learn the fundamentals of basic vehicle maintenance. No prior knowledge is required – just a desire to keep your car running smoothly for years to come. You can gain access into the trade or progress on to our Next Steps in Car Maintenance and Skills in Car Maintenance programmes and then the Level 2 Light Vehicle Maintenance course!

Our experienced instructors will provide hands-on training, ensuring you leave with a solid understanding of the ins and outs of vehicle maintenance. Here’s what you can expect to learn:

  • The ins and outs of oil changes and fluid level checks
  • Tire maintenance and rotation techniques that keep you rolling safely
  • Braking system inspection and pad replacement made simple
  • Battery maintenance and jump-starting tricks of the trade
  • How to use all the right tools for the job and do it safely
  • And much, much more!

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.
Students can progress on to our Next Steps in Car Maintenance Certificate and Skills in Car Maintenance Diploma programmes. You could then progress to the Level 2 Vehicle Maintenance course, which could be completely free, depending on your cirmcumstances. You could also enrol on one of our other part time courses and/or seek employment in the industry.

The course fee shown is the co-funded rate which is only available for people living in the local authority areas of Cheshire West and Chester or Cheshire East. If you live outside of these local authorities please contact the College for fee information.

Funding for Adult Courses

You may see a fee attached to the course you’re interested in, but if you are 19+ there may be funding options available to cover the cost of your course.
