How to apply

The Course

This course has been developed for achievement in a real workplace environment and is delivered in the workplace, which means you need to be employed to undertake this qualification. This qualification enables you to demonstrate and recognise your skills, knowledge and understanding and to demonstrate your competence in a real workplace environment so you can work as a bricklayer within the construction industry. The course includes the following mandatory units:

  • Conforming to General Health, Safety and Welfare in the Workplace
  • Conforming to Productive Working Practices in the Workplace
  • Moving, Handling and Storing Resources in the Workplace
  • Erecting Masonry Structures in the Workplace
  • Setting Out Masonry Structures in the Workplace

You can also choose from the following optional units:

  • Erecting Masonry Cladding in the workplace
  • Erecting Thin Joint Masonry Structures in the Workplace
  • Placing and Finishing Non-Specialist Concrete in the Workplace
  • Maintaining Slate and Tile Roofing in the Workplace
  • Repairing and Maintaining Masonry Structures in the Workplace
  • Installing Drainage in the Workplace
  • Producing Internal Solid Plastering Finishes in the Workplace
  • Producing External Solid Render Finishes in the Workplace

This qualification can be undertaken without any previous training or qualifications in this subject area but you do need to be employed in the industry.
On completion of this qualification you will have obtained the skills, knowledge and understanding and demonstrated the competence needed to progress on to a higher level qualification in the same or similar occupational area or enable entry into supervisory and management positions within the workplace. The qualification is accepted on its own as entry to a job role.

The course fee shown is the co-funded rate which is only available for people living in the local authority areas of Cheshire West and Chester or Cheshire East. If you live outside of these local authorities please contact the College for fee information.
