How to apply

The Course

This course covers key aspects of chemistry, biology and physics. Students gain a thorough understanding of science and its ‘real world’ applications, with assignments tailored to the way science is used in the workplace. There are a range of fascinating specialist units covering topics such as biomedical science techniques and crime scene investigation. Students will gain a solid grounding in DNA technology, chemical analysis, microbiological techniques and genetics, as well as looking at the psychology behind criminal acts.

The course opens up a range of career opportunities as a forensic scientist, biomedical scientist, and medical science technician or in the fields of criminology and forensic psychology.

Five GCSEs at grade 4/C or above, including a combination of grade 4/3 (C/D) or higher in maths and English. Level 3 students who do not achieve a grade 4/C in both English and maths will continue to study this subject as part of their Study Programme.

Successful completion of the course will show that you have developed a range of skills, knowledge and understanding in Science, as well as the transferable skills of communication, IT, self motivation and team work, which are so important to employers. Scientists can be employed at different levels in:

The course fee shown is the co-funded rate which is only available for people living in the local authority areas of Cheshire West and Chester or Cheshire East. If you live outside of these local authorities please contact the College for fee information.
