How to apply

The Course

Are you our next Master Chef? This course will give you the skills and confidence you need to pursue a career as a senior chef or progress to university. You will learn how to create a diverse range of fine dishes to a high standard and discover the secrets behind creating delicious sauces. At this level, you will be given the opportunity to enhance your supervisory skills by overseeing the Chef Assistants in the College kitchens during food preparation. As part of your vocational training, you will work in the College’s kitchens and AA Rosette standard Academy restaurants. You will also gain experience by providing the catering at high-profile corporate events, such as Chester Racecourse, private parties and banqueting, and Gourmet evenings which will help you to build your CV and increase your employability.

Students will work on a rota basis in all production areas of the department to gain valuable all-round experience including patisserie, satellite kitchens and restaurants.

You will study all of the mandatory and customary elements of Level 3 but also a range of patisserie /chocolate units to ensure you are a fully-rounded chef.

You will need a Level 2 professional cookery qualification or relevant industry experience.

Typically you will need 5 GCSEs at grade 4/C or above, including a 4/3 (C/D) combination for maths and English.
Successful completion of this course can lead directly to a wide range of higher education courses such as HNDs, foundation degrees and degrees. Students can also progress to a variety of responsible positions with in the catering industry which is vibrant, exciting and diverse and can offer many opportunities in the UK and abroad.

Adults can enrol for FREE

You may see a fee attached to the course you’re interested in, but if you’re aged 19+ you’ll more than likely be eligible to enrol onto an adult course for FREE.
