How to apply

The Course

This certificate provides the underpinning knowledge in electro-technology and safety needed for anyone planning to take up a career in this industry. It is ideally suited to school leavers who wish to become electricians working in the maintenance or installation trades. It covers many areas within electrotechnical technology, with units such as principle of electrical science, electrical installations technology and health and safety within building services engineering. You will also learn about craft skills and methods used in the industry and electrical installation procedures and requirements.

To enrol on this course you will need to have a minimum of a grade 4/C for GCSE Maths and a 3/D for GCSE English Language. Typically, you will need 2 other GCSEs at a grade 3/D or above.
This qualification is part of the apprenticeship framework and allows you to progress into employment (not as a fully qualified electrician), an apprenticeship or on to a Level 3 course, such as the Level 3 Diploma in Electrical Installations.
