How to apply

The Course

This course is ideal for those who want to do hairdressing but do not have the entry requirements for the Level 2 programme.

The course will cover:

  • Introduction to the hair & beauty sector
  • Present a professional image in the salon
  • The art of dressing hair
  • Follow health & safety in the salon
  • Working with others in the hair & beauty sector
  • Create a hair & beauty image
  • Colour hair using temporary colour
  • Salon reception duties
  • Create and maintain retail displays in the salon
  • Shampoo and conditioning

You will also study the following as part of your study programme:

  • Functional skills Maths & English
  • Certificate in Personal and Social Development
  • Styling Women’s hair
  • Promote products and services to clients in a salon
  • Hair plaiting

Typically you will need 4 GCSEs at grade 2 (E) or above.
On successful completion of the course you could progress to a related Level 2 course at the College.

The course fee shown is the co-funded rate which is only available for people living in the local authority areas of Cheshire West and Chester or Cheshire East. If you live outside of these local authorities please contact the College for fee information.
