How to apply

The Course

If you are creative and have a passion and flair for hair and  make-up, this is the course for you! This course has been designed so that you can learn both aspects of hairdressing and media make-up.

You will develop a sound knowledge and understanding of each unit including health and safety for all services.

The purpose of this qualification is to develop your skills in both hairdressing and media make-up to a high level of occupational ability, to enable you to perform your own salon services.

Units that you will be studying include:

  • Follow health and safety practice in the salon
  • Client care and communication in beauty-related industries
  • Apply make-up
  • The art of photographic make-up
  • The art of dressing hair
  • Create an image based on a theme within the hair and beauty sector
  • Themed face painting
  • Design and apply Mendhi skin decoration
  • Body art design
  • Plaiting and twisting hair
  • Make & style a hair addition

Typically you will need 4 GCSEs at grade 3/ D or above, including a 3/2 (D/E) combination for maths and English.
You could progress to the Level 3 Theatrical, Special Effects Hair and Media Make-up course at the College.

Adults can enrol for FREE

You may see a fee attached to the course you’re interested in, but if you’re aged 19+ you’ll more than likely be eligible to enrol onto an adult course for FREE.
