How to apply

The Course

Communicating with people is an essential skill for everyone in all industries. Whether you are looking to move into a new career in talking therapies or just increase your skills base for communicating and supporting people in your current role, this course is for you. This is a qualification that introduces students to the use of counselling skills in everyday life and work. It covers the fundamentals of communication skills, and how our thoughts and behaviours can affect the way we listen and communicate. The course aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to use counselling skills and engage in a helping interaction appropriately. Students will complete a workbook and reflective journal alongside some practical observations of skills. This course does not qualify you as a counsellor.

There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification, however, learners may find it helpful if they’ve already achieved a Level 1 qualification.
This course does not qualify you as a counsellor, however depending on the route chosen for delivery and the quantity of observed skills practice, this course is recognized by some Level 3 Counselling Courses as an appropriate prerequisite.

The course fee shown is the co-funded rate which is only available for people living in the local authority areas of Cheshire West and Chester or Cheshire East. If you live outside of these local authorities please contact the College for fee information.
