This introductory course is designed for students working in health or social care settings who support individuals with dementia. It provides a broad understanding of how dementia affects people and explores ways to promote their wellbeing through effective communication and care practices.
Students will develop knowledge of different types of dementia and the impact it can have on memory, behaviour and daily life. The course highlights the importance of empathy, respect and consistency when supporting individuals and introduces methods to improve quality of life and person-centred care. This course is suitable for care workers, support staff or anyone in a healthcare environment seeking to build their awareness of dementia-related conditions.
Students will complete a portfolio to demonstrate their understanding of the key topics covered.
The course fee shown is the co-funded rate which is only available for people living in the local authority areas of Cheshire West and Chester or Cheshire East. If you live outside of these local authorities please contact the College for fee information.
