How to apply

The Course

This two-week short course introduces students to essential cooking techniques, providing a strong foundation in classic kitchen skills. You will develop confidence in a range of basic methods, from knife handling and ingredient preparation to cooking techniques such as sautéing, roasting and boiling. The course also explores traditional recipes including a selection of soups and sauces that form the base of many main dishes.

Whether you are new to cooking or looking to build on existing knowledge, this course will help you improve consistency, flavour and presentation in the kitchen.

There are no formal qualifications required. An interest in developing core cooking skills is essential. This course is for students aged 19 and over.
You can progress onto a short course in another culinary area, or consider a Level 2 General Bakery and Patisserie or Level 2 Professional Cookery course.

The course fee shown is the co-funded rate which is only available for people living in the local authority areas of Cheshire West and Chester or Cheshire East. If you live outside of these local authorities please contact the College for fee information.
