The Course

This course introduces students to the essential skills involved in preparing walls for painting to a professional standard. Designed for those looking to develop their ability in surface preparation, the course focuses on patching, smoothing, and creating a finish that is ready for paint application. Throughout the course, students will gain practical experience in using tools and materials commonly used within the trade. Emphasis will be placed on following health and safety practices, achieving consistent results, and understanding basic principles behind wall preparation in domestic and commercial settings. This Level 2 course is ideal for those looking to enhance their DIY abilities, support home improvement projects, or take the first steps toward a career in painting and decorating or property maintenance.

There are no formal qualifications required. Previous experience or an interest in decorating, home improvement, or construction is recommended.
You can progress onto a Level 2 course in a related trade area or a Level 3 Painting and Decorating Diploma.

The course fee shown is the co-funded rate which is only available for people living in the local authority areas of Cheshire West and Chester or Cheshire East. If you live outside of these local authorities please contact the College for fee information.
