Letterchocs Delivery! Cheshire College Students Give Easter Treats to Crewe Residents

Students at Cheshire College – South & West’s Crewe Campus have been going door-to-door in the local community, delivering 150 bags of hand-made chocolates to the neighbouring houses.

The Easter-themed goodwill gesture was the idea of Campus Manager Dan Bathgate, who said that continuing positive relations with the community was the driving force behind the activity.

Students at the Campus’s award-winning Academy Restaurant worked to make the chocolatey treats, and a combination of Student Senate members, Hospitality and Catering students, and other volunteers collaborated to organise the delivery.

Discussing the event, Dan Bathgate said: “Engaging with our local communities is really important us at Cheshire College and we wanted to give something back before we break up for the Easter holidays. Our Hospitality and Catering students worked very hard to create these chocolates and our student volunteers who delivered them were excellent ambassadors for the College.”

The gifts were appreciated by the local community, with one local resident Sophie saying she had discovered the sweet treats whilst getting ready to walk her dog. “I opened the door, and there was something on my doorstep. I couldn’t tell what it was at first, but then I looked closer and saw the chocolates! It was such a lovely surprise. I’m going to share them with my children when they get home from school.”

Principal and CEO Jasbir Dhesi OBE said the chocolatey gifts were a small token of the College’s appreciation for local residents: “We can’t underestimate the importance of local communities in helping education providers like Cheshire College to thrive. Not only do some students live nearby, but we work closely with local businesses, and host events such as our upcoming Community Fun Day.

“Just as Easter and spring are times of renewal, we wanted to take this opportunity to remind our neighbours of how much we value them.”

Cheshire College are now accepting applications for September 2024 for those interested in studying a diverse range of subjects, designed to provide students with combined skills and knowledge that will fully prepare them for the next exciting stage of their life.
