Students Win Big at Regional Hair and Beauty Competition, Moving Toward National Finals 

Students from Cheshire College – South & West are celebrating after securing top spots at the Association of Hairdressers & Therapists (AHT) regional hair and beauty competition, earning them spots at the National Finals. 

Held at the Norbreck Castle Hotel in Blackpool, the competition showcased the students’ exceptional talent in makeup, body art, and nails. Their outstanding performances in the regional rounds guarantee them a chance to compete against the best from across the country in the National Finals on the 12th of May. 

Among the top winners was Alfie Waddon, a Level 2 Media Makeup student, who claimed 1st place in the Fashion Magazine Vogue Look category.  

Jordan Brockhurst, also a Level 2 Media Makeup student, earned 3rd place in the Half Body Art competition. Her intricate avatar-inspired body art earned praise from the judges, demonstrating his technical skill and creativity. 

Other standout performances included Lily Carlin, who took 2nd place in Box Art – Nails, showing incredible attention to detail and a creative flair that stood out in the competition. 

The AHT competition, a key event in the hair and beauty industry, provides students with a valuable opportunity to showcase their skills, creativity, and technical expertise. The competition is widely recognised within the industry, helping students gain exposure and recognition, paving the way for future careers. 

Ruth Szolkowska, Vice Principal of Innovation, Curriculum and Quality at Cheshire College commented:
