Safeguarding and Welfare Officer (EL578)

Salary: £28,282 to £30,881 (per annum)

Contract Type: Permanent                               

Hours: 37 hours per week

Location: Crewe campus

We are looking for an individual with a passion for supporting young people to join our College in the role of Safeguarding and Welfare Officer. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide well-being interventions, advice and guidance for learners with a wide range of mental health concerns and/or safeguarding issues;
  • Provide mental health support / mental health first aid to learners with mental health concerns and/or support needs;
  • Work flexibly on either a one-to-one or group basis supporting learners with safeguarding or emotional needs as guided by College counsellor;
  • Produce reports for Personal Education Plan, Early Help, Child in Need and Child Protection meetings;
  • Attend meetings and reviews; and
  • Support the delivery and development of a range of events, strategies and training programmes to increase understanding of the areas of mental health across the College.

Key Person Specification Requirements:

  • GCSE Grade C (4/5) in English and Maths or equivalent;
  • Level 3 Safeguarding qualification (or willingness to achieve);
  • Experience of working in a supportive environment;
  • Experience of safeguarding, working with young people and vulnerable adults;
  • Evidence of relevant continuous professional development that includes mental health;
  • Ability to work with empathy and sensitivity with emotional resilience; and
  • Enhanced DBS check.
